At the edge of Niagara Falls, a new kind of attraction has taken shape—one that blends storytelling, technology, and place into a fully immersive experience. Niagara Takes Flight, a $25 million redevelopment at Table Rock Centre, replaces the long-running Niagara’s Fury and redefines the primary gateway to the Canadian side of the Falls.

From Feasibility to Flight

The project began in early 2023 when FORREC was brought in by Niagara Parks Commission to conduct a feasibility and market study. The conclusion was clear: a flying theatre experience would best leverage the site’s global draw and spatial constraints.

Following the award to Brogent Technologies—known for installations in major cities like Vancouver, Chicago, and Las Vegas—FORREC led the narrative and spatial design. From concept through construction administration, the team ensured a cohesive experience across interiors, pre-show environments, and retail.

Storytelling as Architecture

Niagara Takes Flight is more than a ride—it’s a sequence of spatial narratives that unfold before takeoff.

Eons of Erosion introduces guests through a cave-like threshold, where a glowing digital waterfall and escarpment-inspired forms set the tone.

The Ancestors Room, developed in collaboration with Indigenous leaders including Tim Johnson and Phil Davis, immerses visitors in creation stories through music, dance, and digital storytelling.

The Waterfall Room, narrated by James Cameron, traces Niagara’s evolution—from sacred Indigenous land to industrial powerhouse and global tourism icon.

Each space balances physical design with layered media, creating a progression that is both educational and emotional.

The Descent Before Flight

Before the main attraction, guests enter the Transporter—a simulated industrial elevator that descends into the Niagara Gorge. This transitional moment builds anticipation, shifting the experience from grounded storytelling to cinematic immersion.

A Flight Like No Other

The ride itself places guests in suspended seating before a 180-degree domed screen. Using drone cinematography and 4D effects—wind, mist, motion—visitors soar over the Falls and surrounding landscapes, experiencing Niagara from a perspective few ever will.

The journey concludes in a retail space that extends the narrative through design, ensuring the story continues beyond the ride.

Built Through Collaboration

Construction began in Fall 2024, led by Merit Contractors Niagara, with +VG Architects adapting the existing structure. The project brought together a network of Ontario-based collaborators, reinforcing both cultural authenticity and regional economic impact.

A New Chapter for Niagara

As the final phase in the revitalization of Table Rock Centre, Niagara Takes Flight positions itself as a must-see destination. It’s a project that demonstrates how experiential design can elevate a place already known worldwide—offering not just views of Niagara, but a deeper understanding of its past, present, and future.

Fokal Point: This isn’t just an attraction—it’s a case study in how narrative, technology, and architecture can converge to redefine a visitor experience.
