Inside Montreal’s new Royalmount development, Rennaï Beauty Hall reimagines what a beauty retail experience can be. Rather than a conventional department store layout, the 40,000-square-foot space unfolds like a sanctuary—one designed to slow visitors down and immerse them in a sequence of calm, carefully orchestrated environments.
From the moment you enter, the architecture sets the tone. Sculptural columns bloom into soft, petal-like forms overhead, guiding movement through the space while dissolving the rigid geometry typical of retail interiors. Warm neutral palettes, brass accents, and refined millwork establish a quiet elegance that feels more spa-like than commercial.
The result is a beauty hall that feels less like a store and more like a place to pause.

Designing Retail as Ritual
The design of Rennaï treats the act of shopping as something closer to ritual than transaction. Each zone—from fragrance and skincare to beauty services and consultation areas—unfolds gradually, allowing visitors to discover rather than simply browse.
Service counters are intentionally designed for conversation, with seating arrangements that encourage longer interactions between guests and beauty specialists. Lounge areas, upholstered in soft organic forms and natural tones, invite visitors to linger rather than circulate quickly through the space.
Even circulation feels intuitive. Curved pathways and sculptural fixtures guide movement without explicit direction, allowing the architecture itself to gently shape the experience.
The design slows the body before the mind follows.

A Space Designed to Stay
At the center of the beauty hall, a kombucha bar anchors the experience. It’s not simply a retail novelty—it’s a signal of intent. Visitors are encouraged to sit, pause, and treat the visit as an experience rather than an errand.
Throughout the space, soft daylight filters through tall translucent curtains, while carefully integrated lighting highlights product displays without overwhelming the environment. The atmosphere shifts as you move—from open retail areas to more intimate consultation and service zones—creating a rhythm that mirrors the personal nature of beauty and wellness.
Rather than pushing visitors toward the next purchase, the design invites them to settle into the moment.

Where Architecture Meets Atmosphere
The architecture of Rennaï balances sculptural expression with a restrained material palette. White curvilinear forms, layered ceiling planes, and luminous display fixtures create a sense of softness and continuity across the expansive floorplate.
Brand environments—from luxury fragrance counters to clean skincare displays—are integrated within this larger architectural framework, allowing individual identities to coexist without disrupting the calm overall experience.
It’s a space where retail design becomes spatial storytelling.

Arriving Instead of Shopping
In an era where retail increasingly competes with online convenience, Rennaï Beauty Hall offers something digital cannot: atmosphere, tactility, and human connection.
The space doesn’t rush you. It invites you to arrive.
And in doing so, it transforms a beauty store into something closer to a destination.
