Inside the Design of Toronto’s Two New Ballroom Bowl Locations

From the heart of Yorkville to the energy of Dundas Square—where bowling meets architecture.

Toronto just got two bold new additions to its entertainment scene. The Ballroom Bowl has opened up not one, but two architecturally ambitious venues—each transforming unexpected spaces into immersive, design-forward destinations.

Yorkville: Luxury Below Street Level

Tucked beneath the iconic 1 Bloor East, the new Yorkville location reimagines a former luxury grocery store into an upscale, underground bowling and social venue. Designed by mcCallumSather, this space layers warm wood ceilings, custom millwork, and a vibrant Toronto-themed mural to create an atmosphere that blurs the line between leisure and luxury.

Zoned with precision, the venue integrates VIP bowling lanes, dining areas, and lounge zones—all while contending with the acoustic and spatial challenges of a below-grade footprint. Polished concrete floors and a thoughtful use of lighting enhance both function and mood, while sustainability plays a supporting role through the reuse of existing materials.

Dundas Square: Industrial Energy Meets Urban Views

Just a few blocks south, the Ballroom Bowl’s new location at The Tenor (10 Dundas East) brings duckpin bowling to downtown Toronto with an industrial twist. Completed by BUILD IT, the design transforms a former restaurant and food court into a buzzing third-floor venue with panoramic views of the square.

Exposed beams, raw finishes, and expansive glazing define the space, giving it an energetic, urban presence. The open-plan layout, punctuated by sleek furnishings and bold lighting, offers a versatile stage for bowling, lounging, and socializing—all while putting architecture front and center in the entertainment experience.

What makes these two venues especially compelling is how they reflect their surroundings. Yorkville's is refined and polished—tailored for its upscale neighborhood. Dundas Square’s is gritty and animated—perfectly aligned with the area’s high-energy pedestrian traffic. Together, they showcase how thoughtful design can elevate the ordinary into something exceptional.
