Honey Bee Research Centre – Now Fully Realized, Inside and Out

Exterior Reflections of a Sustainable Future

LOCATION:
Guelph, ON

Following our previous look inside the Honey Bee Research Centre (HBRC), the facility's exterior is now complete—and it’s just as thoughtfully crafted as the interior.

Tucked into the Guelph Arboretum, the new HBRC building by Moriyama Teshima Architects integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings while presenting a bold, contemporary form. A dramatic angular canopy defines the main entrance, with clean lines and natural materials echoing the research centre’s ecological mission. Generous glazing invites the landscape in, reinforcing the centre’s role as both a research hub and public interface for pollinator education.

Accessible pathways, native plantings, and views to the adjacent apiary ground the architecture in its setting, while expanded outdoor teaching zones extend the HBRC’s outreach capacity beyond its walls.

You can revisit our previous look at the interiors - LINK HERE, or explore the full transformation of this vital research hub through the newly completed exterior photos below.
