Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Bodega Ridge Resort on remote Galiano Island, British Columbia, a striking farm-to-table restaurant seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. Recently opened, Lola restaurant is dedicated to serving both island residents and visitors alike.
The restaurant and bar are housed within the historic lodge on the Bodega Ridge property, a structure beautifully crafted from timber logs that highlights the island's vernacular architecture through natural materials. Douglas fir veneer is prominently featured throughout the renovation and design, shaping the service counter and infusing the space with a rustic elegance that complements the existing lodge and the surrounding environment. Thoughtfully arranged wood slats both reveal and conceal various activities within the restaurant, creating a dynamic atmosphere that enriches the overall dining experience.
The design of this intimate restaurant seeks to cultivate warmth and social connection. Perched on the upper hillside, the sunlit dining room invites natural light to flow throughout the space, with copper plates cladding the surface of the upper bar, reflecting and amplifying the light. The colour palette features warm monochromatic tones, further enhancing the atmosphere.
Lola celebrates the rich flavours of Southeast Asia by showcasing locally caught seafood and fresh produce sourced from the Bodega Ridge farm. The menu features family-style sharing plates with vibrant flavours with an emphasis on fire-forged ingredients.
