2025 Fokal Point Awards – Interior Design Shortlist Announced
AI-Assisted Interior Design Shortlist Revealed

We’re excited to unveil the shortlist for the 2025 Fokal Point Awards – Interior Design category!
This year, we introduced a new layer to the judging process: an AI-assisted evaluation to support the initial round of review. Each submission was assessed based on four consistent criteria:
Creativity & Concept
Functionality
Aesthetic Execution
Use of Materials & Detailing
How AI Was Used
The AI model used to evaluate submissions was developed by OpenAI and trained on millions of design references, including:
Global architecture and interior design publications
Jury comments from award-winning competitions
Case studies, whitepapers, and critiques from industry professionals
Historical data from competitions like Dezeen Awards, Architizer A+, World Architecture Festival, and more
It was also fine-tuned through pattern recognition across photography, spatial planning, materials, and visual storytelling — all key aspects of high-level design presentation. For this process, AI did not make final decisions, but rather helped surface projects that demonstrated consistency and impact across all four judging criteria.
What Happens Next
These shortlisted entries now move forward to the final round of judging, where a panel of industry professionals will assess each project in full detail. Their evaluations will determine the winner of this year’s Fokal Point Interior Design Award.
