2025 Fokal Point Awards – Architecture Design Shortlist Announced
AI-Assisted Architecture Design Shortlist Revealed

We’re excited to unveil the shortlist for the 2025 Fokal Point Awards – Architecture Design category!
This year, we introduced a new layer to the judging process: an AI-assisted evaluation to support the initial round of review. Each submission was assessed based on four consistent criteria:
Design Vision & Concept
Site Response & Functionality
Form & Spatial Experience
Materials & Technical Execution
How AI Was Used – Architectural Category
The AI model used to evaluate submissions was developed by OpenAI and trained on millions of design references, including:
Global architecture publications and academic texts
Jury feedback from prestigious competitions such as the RAIC Awards, Architizer A+, and World Architecture Festival
Case studies, whitepapers, and critiques from renowned design firms and institutions
Historical data and visual documentation from built and award-winning projects
The model was fine-tuned through pattern recognition in spatial organization, contextual response, material expression, and architectural storytelling—key attributes of well-executed architecture.
While the AI did not determine final outcomes, it served as a powerful analytical tool to help identify standout projects with conceptual strength, spatial richness, and technical refinement. All shortlisted entries are now moving forward to expert human jurors for the final evaluation and selection of winners.
